Innovation Districts is globally defined as
an urban area with a mix of research institutions, businesses, companies, entrepreneurs, and startups focused on innovation.
The Research, Development and Innovation Authority seeks to enhance collaboration between the public, private and academic sectors, and provide advanced infrastructure and facilities dedicated to entrepreneurs and innovative startups, which contributes to developing local investments and attracting international partnerships in addition to providing financing opportunities, guidance and capacity development, which in turn drives economic growth.
Accordingly, a package of initiatives has been launched that aim to activate and empower innovation zones in the Kingdom, specialized within the national aspirations and priorities for research, development and innovation launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Research, Development and Innovation, which are based on four main priorities; represented by: Health and Wellness, Sustainable Environment and Water, Energy and Industrial Leadership, and Economies of the Future.
